What is THRIVE Prince Edward County?

THRIVE is a community-led development of a collaborative vision for the future of Prince Edward County.
The discovery process asks the fundamental questions:

  • What do we want our community to be in 10 years time?

  • How can individuals, community organizations and businesses in PEC come together to co-create and action this vision?

Process questions:

  • What do we have?
  • What do we love?
  • What would we miss?
  • What are we collaboratively going to do about it?

  • WHY is THRIVE needed?

Prince Edward County is facing pressing issues including:

Emerging from COVID-19 Alleviating the housing crisis Decreasing the disparity between “haves” and “have nots” Easing dissension and frustration among residents and businesses Adapting to changing demographics Diversifying and strengthening our economy Attracting and retaining capital investment Preparing for the future

These are complex issues that require input from diverse groups, businesses and citizens. It’s not something that community groups can tackle by themselves. Nor is it something that local businesses can take on by themselves. Nor is it the responsibility of the municipality alone. We all need to work together.

“There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about.” – Margaret J. Wheatley

WHEN can I get involved with THRIVE?

Join us for the Affordable Housing Community Series in January and February 2023. The Community Symposium is taking place Saturday, March 25th, 2023. Community sessions will continue throughout 2023. Help create the future of our community – join the conversation.

Since July 2021, Prince Edward County representatives have been preparing for this process through participation in a national community economies pilot. The pilot allowed PEC to access world-renowned experts in the topics of community engagement, financing, collaboration and data.
