There are many proven benefits to this approach

Citizen engagement is a new way of thinking about how government works with stakeholders and citizens to achieve a wide range of goals that it cannot achieve alone.

The “bottoms-up” approach has proven to be more successful and sustainable than “top-down” approaches.

The process provides an opportunity and space for diverse stakeholders to safely share their perspectives and to better understand each other in relation to mutual issues and objectives.

The outcomes of community engagement enable decision-makers to be better informed to understand and address the interests of the communities they serve, across services, infrastructure and public spending.
