Prince Edward Learning Centre (PELC)

By providing a safe, creative, person-centred environment for lifelong learning, Prince Edward Learning Centre supports all students pursuing their individual learning goals through programming that increases literacy, contributes to educational upgrading, supports community involvement, and assists with access to appropriate employment training.

Essential Skills
PELC offers programming year-round. We are always looking at ways we can meet the community’s needs for training and learning. In addition to opportunities offered “by popular demand,” we offer several courses consistently throughout the year.

Inspire Youth Training & Employment
Inspire is a 16-week training program for youth aged 15 – 30. We help you move toward your career goals and blast barriers (whatever they may be) in the way of your perfect job.

Advocacy
We take a holistic approach to Civic Literacy, with a focus on nurturing skills for effective self-advocacy. Our topics are driven by current events and our students’ interests and passions. Our learners explore varied subjects through guest speakers and field trips that provide hands-on learning opportunities and build community connections.

PEC Fresh Good Food Market
As part of our ongoing commitment to food security, PELC has partnered with Community Food Centres Canada to launch a community market, making fresh fruits and vegetables accessible to everyone at affordable prices.

Financial Empowerment
Our staff are trained in comprehensive benefits screening to help people identify, and apply for, programs for which they may qualify.

Help Filing Your Taxes
Our volunteer tax clinics are open to the community. The service is free, friendly and confidential.
